Watching This Hero Dog Guarding His Best Friend From a Train Will Break Your Heart

In unbelievable footage captured by Denis Malafeyev, who discovered the dogs on Christmas day, the brave uninjured dog, a male, stands guard over his bestie, a female, even snuggling up beside her as a train passes overhead.

Malafeyev posted several clips to Facebook, and they’ve since amassed more than 7 million views collectively. In one of the videos, the male dog can be heard growling at the rescuers as they try to approach them.

“The male dog heard the sound of the approaching train, came close to the female dog and laid down next to her. Both of them pushed their heads towards the ground, and let the train pass,” Malafeyev was quoted as saying, according to The Sun. “The male dog was doing this for two days in a row. Think about it. He was keeping her warm. I don’t know what to call this: instinct, love, friendship, loyalty? I know one thing; not all people can do that!”

Eventually, the humans were able to get the dogs off the tracks and to a shelter. They have reportedly since been adopted by owners who named them Panda and Lucy.

Malafeyev continues to post updates about their well-being on Facebook. “The dogs are safe, live, received qualified medical assistance, no bone fractures, there are bruises and hematoma,” he wrote the day after the rescue.
